To begin with, I should mention that it’s been already much said, discussed and written about such grammar phenomenon as the Article. But, nevertheless, it still remains dark horse among all the specialties of the English language Grammar. Up to now there a lot of facts that are not quite understood or tangled about the Article and its appearance and development in the course of history. Though it’s impossible to get articles out of the language.
I think the presence of this complicated indicators makes the language peculiar and more attractive. That is why I have chosen the problem of the development of the Article as the topic of this report, where I’ll try to investigate and present some interesting and important facts about it.
First of all, it needs to be determined that an article is a word that is mostly used with a noun to indicate the type of reference made by the noun. Thus, articles specify grammatical definiteness of the noun.
